Masters of Science in Criminal Justice or Law Degree for Law Enforcement?
I am pursuing a career in law enforcement with the Metro Nashville Police Department and have the option to pursue either a Master of Science in Criminal Justice or a law degree from a school in Nashville. I know and understand that either would get me where I want to be in terms of education, but which one would be more likely to aid me in promotions during my career on the police department, particular further down the line in my career? Thanks for any and all input.

Ultimately what unit would you want to work with? If you want to work in forensics, then the Master of Science would be good.
A JD would be much more marketable than a MS in CJ. It will also give you more options if you choose to go a different route (Federal, Prosecution, etc.).
I don’t think there’s anywhere you can get with a MSCJ that you can’t with a JD.
